Description
The Hamilton H-47 was six-passenger-seat, all-metal, high-wing monoplane powered by a single R-1690 Pratt & Whitney radial engine. There were 29 built for passenger and mail-carrying work and this is the only flying example in the world. The aircraft was originally sold in 1929 by the Hamilton Division of Boeing Aircraft to the Canadian Forestry Service. The airplane is constructed of corrugated metal skins, much like the Ford Tri-motor of the same era. This aircraft is so beautiful and I very much wanted to capture it but there were so many people walking around it all day it was difficult. I just kept walking around it and noticed this engine with so many beautiful leading lines, shapes, textures and complex shapes I waited for a moment where people would not walk in front of me and snapped away. This is the golden era of aviation just prior to the market crash when so many people were fascinated with the notion of flying and took to the skies to explore the wonder and beauty of the flying experience.

Wonderful image. Paul: I understand your frustration. It is frustrating to have to follow up on other peoples' work, including management's work, too. It's one of the reasons I try to be there when work is being done. And they hardly ever do the work as well as you know you would have done it. And when the owner doesn't believe you, well it's always VERY satisfying when the owner comes out and sees that you know what you are talking about!
