Portrait Of Don Williams
Artist
Joan-Violet Stretch
Medium
Painting - Painting Indian Ink Filtered With Sepia Filter
Description
A portrait I did of Don Williams in 1982 at the height of his fame when I was a real countrier at the time, I even had a Stetson...I was a member of a local country club that used to meet for country music and live gigs. I've seen Don live at my local theatre and enjoyed his show, love his romantic songs, such as Amanda, You're My Friend and Missing You. Country Boy was one of his top hits, his music is gentle and melodious, like him. I did this picture in Indian ink on sketch paper, this has a sepia filter and cream backdrop added, and it's very effective with the shirt folds, checks, wrangler denims and Don's famous cowboy hat and it's a firm fav amongst my contemporaries. Oh yes I used to be well known for sketching Don during my cowgirl days in the 80's as country and Western was a craze that swept Britain in those days for people of 30 ish upwards. With fond memories of those foot tapping days. This picture of Don Williams looks really great on the new t-shirts and throw cushions as well as looking stunning as a framed print, this version of the portrait favours the wooden style frames and wood prints very well
