My first entry... "The Butterfly Inn"
This is my first submission to Abbie Shore's May editing challenge 2020. She gave us a low resolution picture that included a doll house in a garden. She had butterflies on the house so I kept with that lighthearted, airy theme. I added a river, landscape, rip-rap, walk-bridge, and lots of flying butterflies. The dollhouse became an INN for the butterflies which I call, "The Butterfly Inn".

This is my 2nd submission to Abbie Shore's May editing challenge 2020. I used the "UP" animated movie theme for her dollhouse. Since the original image was low resolution, I digitally repainted the house for better quality. I gave it a chimney for the balloon strings to be centered at. Part of the original house was buried in dirt, so I remade that portion.

This is my 3rd submission to Abbie Shore's May editing challenge 2020. Since the original image was low resolution, I used a version of her image as a postage stamp. That way I could keep the image small and not reveal the low quality from the low resolution. I still used a digitally repainted dollhouse however for better quality. I created an envelope for it with a mailing address and return address. To give it a little more artistic flavor, I added tea stains and an edge around the envelope as well as a subtle edge around the white return address to look as if it were a peal and stick label. I used an "Ariel" print font for the fictitious return address and "Brush Script Std" font for the fictitious mailing address. FAA has automatically cropped portions of the image because of the large image format now being used. To see the entire image just click on it to go to the image page.

Perfect!!
Edit this challenges aren't meant to just give you a ready made image to put up. They are meant to challenge you. To inspire. To wet your imagination. To show editing skills..... Or to learn new ones.
I'm THRILLED with what people are making of this. Brilliant!

I just received a I just received a electronic message with an attachment
from one of my retired avatars. His name is Ishmael.
Ishmael has been traveling the web ever since the day I told him that
he was free to go. To be who or whatever he chooses to be, the choice
was his. He waisted no time, Ishmael was gone quicker than a planck.
We've kept in touch sporadically these past three years.
Last time I heard from him he was exploring politics and the dark web,
he didn’t go into detail but he sounded a bit frightened and concerned
as he put it, "for humanity”..
But this time's different, he sounded upbeat, almost happy in fact.
He said that he’s been active in an art community somewhere in the
Carpathian Mountains and trying his hand at performance art.
When I read that, I had no choice but to stop reading and open the jpeg attachment. message with an attachment from one of my

A little girl blows bubbles in a garden with a doll house. The bubbles reflect images as they drift through the garden.
Created for Edit This May 2020 Contest. The Doll house and garden were composited from a photograph by Abbie Shores. The rest of the image is hand painted and not taken from any image on the internet. I am saying this because so many submissions that win are actually intellectual property that is either stolen or used to create their entries. I feel this is unfair to the rest of us that go to great lengths to create original compositions. If this continues I will stop contributing my work to this contest.
If you want to vote for your favorite image and want to make sure it is original, all you have to do is right click on the image and select search by image. It will give you choices such as bing, yandex, etc... If you see several images that look the same then that is a red flag that your choice is stolen or being used to create their submission with a few changes. I am bringing this up because it has happened so much and is unfair to Abbie and the other artists that work hard on their submissions.

You may have to install a download if you don't already have access to reverse search. Here is one I tried and seemed ok. If not do your own research. This is something that most artists have access to and would help you to protect your own work as well.

Debra,
I could be accused of using previously posted images and making few changes to them for this contest.
In both cases I've used photos, I certainly had a right to use: 1. My former workroom (Babylon, NY) and 2. A photo of myself taken at the Maryland Renaissance Festival .
So be it.

Roger,
I am not accusing you of using other people's images. On the contrary, I left a comment on your leading image stating so. Why do you assume I am talking about you? I know you have always been honest and upfront in these contests. I am talking about those that submit content that is blatantly misused. All you have to do is a reverse search to know what I am talking about. I will not name and shame anyone here. I myself have used other content until I realized that it was not the right thing to do. I am only trying to point out the blatant use of copying imagery with little touches of Abbie's content and why it should not be permitted.
This is what I posted on your leading image in the contest.
COMMENT: Oh, and I also wanted to say, it is your work and not something taken from the internet that you just added some touches to. This happens so often that I am ready to just give up on these contests.
I guess I should have emphasized your work.
Debra I will actually add that to the rules for the next one. Unfortunately I am so busy I often do not get the time to curate as I should. As it is not in the rules, it would be unfair to change now on this one.
