Transfer My Existing Domain To Fine Art America

I already have a website, hosted by Art Majeur. I own the domain name. Before I sign up for the premium plan here, I would like to be sure I can transfer that domain name here. I can't find any artist handbook, etc. with procedures on this site.

You can point it to a site here.. But not transfer it

So, with FAA, I cannot have a website in my name? Only through their url?

Yes you can point your domain to your pages here.

That means people can click your link and be taken here.

Transfer means we would hold the domain here for you. We wouldn't. But you can get people to click your domain to be taken here

Yes

So, if I do that, what happens to my content already on my website?

Which website?

Ok I am on my laptop so can get into this better

You have a domain (not with us)
You have a site on that domain?

You have a site with us

You can use your domain on your own site (not with us) and just create a link on that here
Or use the shopping widget if a premium member. That drops into your own site on a page

----
Embed our shopping cart widget https://fineartamerica.com/newsletters/shopping-cart-widgets-10-2014.html into your own website and sell all of your Fine Art America / Pixels products directly from your own site! This allows you to keep your visitors focused on your artwork on your website.

This is one of the most exciting features for premium members. It requires absolutely no technical expertise to setup and can be fully functional on your website in less than one minute.

Example of a full width cart: https://ourartsmagazine.com/example-of-a-full-page-pixels-premium-shopping-widget
Example of a cart with sidebars: https://ourartsmagazine.com/example-of-a-pixels-premium-shopping-widget/

Here is the membership plan page https://fineartamerica.com/membershipplans.html

By default it shows all images and you have no controls on the site to change that. However, I have written a tutorial that will allow you to show a shop choice as your homepage. https://ourartsmagazine.com/blog/2019/06/18/pixels-fine-art-america-adding-widgets-showing-category-first/

Or you can forward the domain name to a free site here.

Log into your domain host and see FORWARD

But you will not have a site on that domain anywhere else

OR

if a premium member you can POINT the domain to your premium site so people only see that domain name and not our name

log into that area (the premium site) under Administrator, and see Custom Domains.

Please note that, at present, our sites are SSL certified but a domain pointed would not be. So you may prefer to do it another way using my personal tutorial which will make things secure for you https://ourartsmagazine.com/ssl-domains-on-pixels-com

If you follow the directions there one line at a time it will create a secure site for you

I have my current website hosted by Art Majeur, but am not 100% happy. Have been considering changing. I thought I could use the domain name on a website I build through FAA? If yes, how would I transfer all of my images and information without having to enter it all piecemeal?

I don't think you can do a mass transfer of your images and other stuff. The coding for the two sites are likely a lot different.

The way I do it is to maintain my own site, and add a bit of script to each image description. This will, however, require that you have to duplicate everything on FAA or your AW.

Here's my site. Click on the purchase link beneath an image to see how it works:

I also have my own domain name for my premium site, but the site is not secure for our own domain names so I use Cloudflare

One of my complaints about Art Majeur is that I cannot insert any code into the web page.

Thanks Murray, That would work great, but I cannot add urls nor code to my Art Majeur website.

Well, that sucks. Get an address you like, then redirect it here.

the website here only allows you to sell art, it doesn't host. you would have to find another host site. as for the name, you can just redirect it here, like you can a phone number. i'd copy the content of the other site, and just remake it using wordpress or something.

Art Majeur is an art selling platform not a web host, I think you are confused it with personal web site

You cannot insert code here either.

As Mike said, just make a Wordpress site or similar and then use that as you want

I have a website (with WordPress) with blogs, etc., and want to sell photographs I have taken too. So, I have joined and signed up for the premium plan. Do most of you have your own website and also the website with Fine Art America? I know I can use the shopping cart on my site and the link to the website from Fine Art America. I believe I will add that to my site and basically keep the two sites up and running. Just wanted to get an idea of what some of you do. Also, do you ever add your name on your prints that you sell on here? I know some of these questions are not in the discussion topic, so I hope it is okay.
