While driving along California Highway 99 on my way to Merced National Wildlife Refuge to take photos of wildlife, I looked up and saw dozens of U.S. flags flying on an overpass near Turlock on a very windy day.

My heart warmed to see such support for America and patriotism. I took the next exit and headed back to the overpass where I met the friendly people from the California Valley Patriots who organized this patriotic display.

To those who celebrate: Happy Blessed Fourth of July! God bless you!

My least favorite of insects, these photos are of a brown widow, I have had two spider bites one was a brown recluse the other a wold spider...

Brilliant sunlight casts lettering on the front of the coffee shop inside. This is my shadow sitting at the table at the window, taking hold of a shadow of a cup part of lettering on the outside of the store front.

Latest addition to my "Rust Art" Collection. This one highlighting the still shiny chrome, peeling green paint and desert rusty patina on the hood and fender of a vintage Dodge flatbed truck that has sat in the southwestern desert sun for decades.

More action between stallions south of Reno, NV.

A beach trip doesn't after to end after the weekend is over.

California poppies (Eschscholzia californica) dominate one of many hills at the Antelope Poppy Reserve near Lancaster during a rare superbloom in late March 2019.

This photo, like all my others, was taken from an official designated park trail, to prevent trampling of this precious resource and conserve for future generations to enjoy.

The reserve is in the Western Mojave Desert at the 2,600 to 3,000 foot elevation range above sea level. As I climbed higher up into the hills, the poppies became even more numerous, until they blanketed the hillsides as seen here.

A park ranger on duty informed me that the day I took this photo was when the California state flower was reaching its peak at the reserve, on a warm, sunny day and little to no wind — ideal conditions for poppy photography in the high desert.

An ocotillo is seen in black and white against a dramatic cloudy sky in the expanse of the Sonoran Desert south of Tucson, Arizona. My southwestern landscapes are ones I take seriously as I hope to depict in several of my collections. This is a group of colorful umbrellas hanging from the ceiling of the dining room at the Popa Mountain Resort located near Bagan, Myanmar (Burma). It was a delicious and beautiful dining experience.

One of the few nights I have been able to photograph the night sky. It has been raining almost every day for a month now! Here is a shot of the milkyway about 1/2 hour down the road from the Beaverhill Bird observatory I usually visit during the day!

I shot this in my studio in Mexico City in 2013. I used both lighting and optical effects to create these images in camera, the images were not altered in post production.

The Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park features a bronze sculpture of Frederick Douglass outside by Marc Andre Robinson, a Maryland Institute College of Art graduate. I photographed the sculpture and extracted the background and added my own.

Two images were digitally stitched to produce this panoramic view of the Atlantic Shoreline at North Carolina's Outer Banks at dawn. People are walking the shoreline towards a gigantic corked bottle that has washed ashore with a message inside.

Interesting tidbit... The ladies walking the shoreline on the right is the same woman. She was in both images I stitched together for the panorama so I kept her and changed the color of the hat and shirt. I also give her longer hair on the far right.

Lake Como Gems - Elegant Bellagio, the Pearl of Lago di Como in Lombardy, Italy



Bellagio's waterfront as seen from an approaching ferry. Lake Como, also known as Lario and Lago di Como, is nestled in the slopes of the Southern Alps and shaped like an inverted "Y". Bellagio is in a perfect place at the cape that divides the lake in three legs. A famed destination for celebrities, jet-setters, rich and famous, and aristocracy, it is indeed a beautiful town with charming streets, magnificent villas, and breathtaking views all around.

Fasle Hellebore - a very photogenic plant I am enjoying during the Colorado wildflower season.

The original photo of tall shore grass was capture 9-9-17 at Sandy Point State Park. On 7-17-19, I processed the image and added the face of a Native Indian. The title, " Love And Protect" is a reminder to take care of the earth so that it will take care of it's inhabitants.

Autumn At Lake Jeanette.

Fine Lines Feathers - a dive into the spectacular colour of a Harleqin/Macaw's irridescent feathers taken at the Butterfly House in Bonville News South Wales Australia.

This is the roof line of a church in Panicale in Umbria, Italy that caught my eye the other day thanks to the pigeons flying backwards and forwards, catching my eye.

I had a fun experience shooting the milky way for the first time this weekend in the Ozarks. Here are a few more from that night.

Seems late in the season for new ducklings to be hatched as I took this photograph last Saturday (7-27-19). A big brood for Mama Duck. The last one struggled to get over the tree branch to follow Mom into the water.

Summer Beauty!

A nice sunset across the Chesapeake Bay as viewed from Terrapin Nature Park in Stevensville on Maryland's Eastern Shore. A path through the dune acts as a gateway to the shoreline and beach along the Chesapeake Bay in late evening. The surrounding silhouetted brush and trees create a natural frame for the scenic view.

A tiny baby Maltese puppy gazes up at us with questioning eyes. Having only recently left his mommy and daddy and brothers and sisters, his trust of his new humans isn't quite yet what it will soon be. But in another moment, the questioning look is gone replaced by a mischievous one. He'll be playing with his new toys and scampering through the house, barking at the mop and begging to be picked up and held. Oh those puppy dog eyes! Lois Bryan
