New Avatar Image

Here it is

I like it Hans.

Some people change avatars like they change clothes. Others stick with the tried and true they have had for years. Then there is Mike. A new and creative one every month but he is always recognizable.

I changed mine about a month ago as I ready myself to attack the Texas market in a full up Marine Corps marketing attack.

Mike, the old one was a sepia toned Portrait with hat, tie, leather jacket and round glasses in front of a bush.

My new one's right here, as you see it. Nice to notice others' avatars.....I always do. Some even have

monsters as their visage to the world......horses for courses , my Daddy always said. Artistic, I suppose.

Like the new look.

My switch yesterday was from white to black. My avatar is not for the forum. It is to juxtaposition against my banner on my AW....complex verses much simpler all my art in between.

What river is in your AW banner?

Thanks for asking, David! :o) The river is called "Rhein / Rhine" (Germany) and the castle you see in the left is Liebenstein castle. Together with Sterrenberg castle (from wich i took the shot) they are called "the hostile Brothers".

Are you trying to sell your new avatar? The best one I have seen is a guy with a deer...

i'm picture orientated, if my neighbor is in front of the wrong house, i will have no idea who he is....

I didn't see this thread until it just got bumped, Hans. I like your avatar. I had my face here for a while, but I really don't photograph well. I hate photos of myself, plus I couldn't find myself in discussions with that avatar because it looked like a lot of others. I used to be a red barn, but when they changed the size of the avatar here, it didn't really work, so I settled on a stark black and white. I think I've had this one for about three years now and I have no desire to change it out.

The only avatars I've seen that I don't like are so cluttered you can't tell what you're looking at in a small image, which doesn't apply to anybody who has replied here. You guys all look great, even if you're not an actual face :-).

Speaking of avatars,

I got a PM from a concerned citizen who said:
"...on first glance, second, third and fourth glance I was under the impression that this was a photo of someone's fingers touching a breast, and that the eye was the nipple of the breast."

I thanked the individual for pointing this out:
"No offense taken. I thank you for your consideration.

I don't know if you know me, but I am semi (In)famous for finding faces and whatnot in other's arts. I can safely say that I don't remember ever seeing a face in a breast. Nor would I ever have expected someone to see a breast in my face (Errm ummm… uthermind) "

Again, I thank the person for raising this issue to my attention.

BTW the story gets funnier but I can't get into that without 1. exposing the author, (which I would not do.) 2. Being "warned" again because it is semi risqué ( without intention, more like my teenaged boy mind laughing at the word Homosapien.).
