Growing up on the shores of Anna Maria Island, Florida, on the Gulf of Mexico, I have always sensed that I was a child of the sea as well as the earth.   My mother took me for my first swim in the Gulf when I was only two days old.   Because of this, I have always felt comforted and cradled by the waters.   This intimacy with the natural world is reflected in my paintings.   But Mother Nature encompasses all, and I am equally drawn to the hearts, minds, and welfare of human beings and always seek to connect with other people on an essential and psychological...more
