Vicente was born in the Philippines and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture and is a graduate in Visual Communications from the Alberta College of Art and Design.
His love for art began as a boy growing up in Cebu where he taught himself the intricacies of charcoal portrait drawing. Learning from various sources, such as books and friends, he absorbed as many techniques as he could to create his photorealistic compositions.
As an active member of numerous art clubs in Calgary, Alberta, he shows his support for the local art community. He also enjoys spending his time supporting online artists through a number of different channels. To him, it is an excellent avenue to reach out to artists of various mediums with the goal of supporting and learning from each other.
One if Vic's strongest passions is western art. He combines his love for western culture with an extremely meticulous attention to detail to produce stunning portraits that capture the spirits of the Native Canadian and western spirits. A number of pieces from his Western collection have been exhibited yearly at the Calgary Stampede Western Art Showcase since 2005.
Vicente recently received a Congeniality Award for his 'Young Pow-Wow Dancer' piece. His piece, 'The Daughter's Chief', was also featured in the June/July 2013 issue of Canadian Cowboy Magazine.
His artwork is regularly displayed and available at a variety of art exhibitions across Calgary. Additionally, his work can be viewed and purchased at www.vicgarces.com.
