I was born in Sarajevo 1979. Due to my life circumstances (war in Balkans) I have moved a lot. It was hard emotionally but in a way it gave me fresh look at the world and its people. Although hard it has been quite inspiring, too. I also think that being emotionally vulnerable during life hardships gives one good foundation for creating (sounds kind of strange, but if you been there you know what I am talking about).
During my high school senior year my family and I moved to Chicago, IL (from former Yugoslavia). I graduated from Illinois Institute of Art, majoring in Media Arts and Animation (bachelor degree of fine arts). Designing and animation is what I do, but I always go back to my first love- painting. It is something very important for my inner balance. Essential, if I may say. When paint I feel like praying, celebrating life, thanking God for everything.
I very much enjoy working in nature, painting landscapes. I think it helps me do my fantasy paintings, because big part of creating art is observing, paying attention. Enjoying outdoors with my kids (two boys) and our dog (min-pin look-alike, former stray). I prefer working with acrylic, pastel and aquarelle on smaller size canvas since my family keeps me quite busy. Using pastels gives me that special edge I am looking for. I am expecting the size of my paintings to grow proportionally to my kids’ growth. I also lose my stamina if I spend too much time on one piece. Working on the multiple projects is one way to avoid initial inspiration loss.
