Tony Shelfo is a self taught photographer whose life long love of nature and photography has gone hand in hand ever since buying his first SLR camera during the sophomore year of high school.
With note pad and pen in his camera bag to write down important information such as lighting, f-stop, shutter speed-- anything that seemed relevant-- Tony ventured out whenever possible to photograph anything that caught the interest of his artistic eye.
Starting out in wedding and portraiture photography, Tony was an accomplished professional photographer before graduating high school; gaining plenty of work by 'word of mouth' from happy satisfied clients.
After high school, Tony began delving into other realms of photography to further develop his craft. This included fashion, underwater, advertisement and architecture, just to name a few.
However, his deep passion for wildlife, nature and the beauty of this world has been his primary focus throughout the years.
For the better part of the years from September 2000 until December 2005, Tony lived mostly 'permanent address-less' while traveling throughout all 49 continental United States, all 10 Provinces of Canada and 2 of the 3 Territories (the exception: Nunavut- as there are no roads) and every border State of Mexico, camping in the State, National and Provincial Parks that were to be his pallet.
Since December 2005, Tony had been calling Southern California home, residing in Carlsbad a few blocks from the beach. In March of 2012, Tony moved up the California coast to Big Sur and plans on staying indefinitely.
