Sherry Davis' unique art exemplifies the cultural influence of her deep South Texas border roots. Her early life on the family ranch influenced her appreciation for the colors in nature and the magnificent scope of life that the open ranch land engulfs underneath the big South Texas sky.

The textures and colors of the 1930 ranch house that dual with the palette of colorful wildflowers and the nuance shades of green from the Texas brush country, became her instinctive colors and surface choices. The imprint from the cattle industry and the legacy of strong women in her family, yield the substructure for the content of various pieces of her work.

Sherry's interests in photography has benefited through her travels. Those experiences have become another subject on her canvases. She wants her nonobjective poured acrylic, watercolor, collage and photography to illustrate life, beauty, and a sense of adventure. She expressed, 'There are no dark or hidden issues to convey in art. Even with life's struggles I strive to be light hearted and joyfulI in my art expressions. I want to portray a positive, uplifting emotion that ministers to the human spirit.

Sherry has a degree in Dental Hygiene. She attended Del Mar College and Stephen F. Austin University. She began her art pursuit in 1987. The various colleges and universities she attended for her art education are: Mississippi College in Meridian, Richland College in Dallas, University of Texas at Pan American, Instituto de Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, and various other independent art studies. She has spent the last several years studying Communications in Graphic Design at San Antonio College.
