Shannon Crandall has been creating art for as long as she can remember. As a school age student, she was placed in the gifted art program, where her creativity was nutured and developed. She went on to college where she studied Art History and English Literature. After graduation she moved back to upstate NY where she currently resides.
The beauty of the countryside inspired her to create a series of paintings that blossomed into the beginnings of her art career. After some success selling her art work locally, she traveled throughout Upstate NY and Pennsylvania, showing and selling her art work at juried shows. Several of her lithograph prints were sold through nationally distributed catalogues and she had art work in the American Folk Art Museum in NYC. She eventually started a family and felt the need to be at home with her husband and young child, so she opened an Antiques and Art Shop that featured her art work and jewelry.
Due to many circumstances, the shop was closed after several years, but Shannon still felt the need and desire to create. Many of her new paintings and jewelry designs reflect the changes in her life. She continually experiments with her materials to take her work to different levels. She is again doing juried shows and has been renting space in a local Co-op where she sells her art work and jewelry. She works in many media including but not limited to: pencil drawings, acrylics, water colors,photography, chalk pastels, oil pastels, and metal smithing.
