Rowenna was born on a farm in North Wales. A blue eyed, freckled youngest of five, she spent her childhood exploring the grassy hills, spotting rabbits and picking blackberries.
After finishing high-school she attended Wrexham College of art and received a diploma in illustration. After College she decided to go travelling. Her plan was to begin her journey in Israel, work for a while and go on to neighboring countries. Yet, to her surprise her journey ended there. Rowenna met her husband while volunteering in a Kibbutz, picking apples in an orchard in the north of Israel.
She then settled down into family life with three children. Her creativity was channeled, while the children were young, mostly to making things for the house. She spent her days turning the bathroom into a jungle with illustration, coffee tables into oceans with mosaic, papier-mache marionettes, doll houses, costumes and an array of other creations. Nothing in the house was deprived of her creative touch. During this time, she also continued illustrating, Art was still important enough to find the time to keep practicing.

The art of painting, in spite of what many people may think, is in the eye rather than the hand. Every person will have a moment, once in a while, where they are confronted with the beauty of the world. The clouds open to let a number of sunbeams shoot down into a grassy valley in a milky-golden hue, lighting up a hill making it greener and brighter than the others. In these moments we often get a sublime experience: reality can be fantastic. The way the artist sees the world enables them to bring forth a fantastic perception of the way light hits a cup, or a tea-towel. The artist's interpretation of reality can inspire this experience in others, an experience of the simplest things as sublime. Almost anything in this world can be fantastic. This is what I attempt to create in my paintings.
