My name is Ronnie Biccard nee (Veronica Stevens). I was born in 1957 in a small mining town, Witbank, South Africa. I grew up as the last and very much younger of four daughters, being alone most of the time, I escaped into a world of creative fantasy.
I have been painting all my life, it is my passion, it is my life.
I have exhibited extensively over the last 30 years or so,
having many solo and group exhibitions, mainly in South Africa but elsewhere as well.
I had a one-man exhibition in Florida, USA when I lived and worked there for a short period of time.
I have artwork in public and private collections in South Africa, Europe, Australia, UK and the USA. I have collectors of my work all over the world.
I studied to be a teacher at the Johannesburg College of Education, Witwatersrand University, South Africa. Art was one of my majors. I have taught art privately, in schools and colleges.
For me the journey as an artist has been one of exploration, I have taken many voyages of discovery, literally and figuratively.
I have been called a gypsy. I travel into a world of fantasy and back into reality again, Each work that I produce is a landmark or a milepost and a record along the way.
Having lived in Cheltenham in the UK for a mere 18 month, I have now returned to my native South Africa and live in a seaside village of Hermanus in the Western Cape.
