I was born in the midst of the rolling hills of southern Indiana.In my childhood,I adored the famous fall burst of browns,yellows,and reds among the soaring tree lines,built snowmen from the white powdered banks and valleys as brown branches swayed to the tune of old man winter,danced with joy as the cold winds were drowned by chilly spring rains returning every imaginable shade of green sprinkled with a rainbow of flowers and berries,relaxed and amused myself during the hot and sticky summers in murky swamps guarded by cypress trees,lakes surrounded by rolling green banks,pits hid by bluffs of limestone and others that had mounds scattered with the black shale leftovers of coal mining,and the muddy ohio as its waters rolled flowed towards the mighty mississippi.
This beauty sterred me on the path of becoming an artist as i tried to capture these spectacular scenes in drawings.as a young man,I enlisted in the U.S. Army and was trained as a scout.a scout searched the landscape looking for changes that could warn of imminent danger.I began to appreciate the intimate detail and the complex interconnections of different ecosystems as i explored the fresh terrain of the southwest.I saaw mountains proudly reaching for marshmallow puffs of clouds with sparkling blue streams carved in theirdescent,rushing around pine trees and brush towards towns.,and desserts floored with glistening sand as cactus and tumbleweed broke the timelessness while the wind howled tales of past glory.Afteri returned to Southern Indiana,I discovered my passion,oil painting.I try to capture nature on canvaswhich is embodied in my paintings as i experience new territory,visions,and ideas.I display and sell my paintings at flea markets and art shows until i realize my dream of owning my own gallery.My work is also featured in the 2009 artwanted.com calender.As a self-taught artist,I am receptive to suggestions and ideas that can assist my development as a painter and hopefully make a new friend to discuss our dreams,disappointments,and revelations.
