Born on the 28th of July 1992, Ron was welcomed into a small family of five, to the quaint yet picturesque art capital of St. Lucia; Choiseul. In his veins run the rich heritage of a family who created uniquely crafted indigenous craft products. Surrounding him, the constant backdrops to his childhood escapades were the world famous pitons, the sequined Caribbean Sea and perfectly painted flora and fauna worshiping the ever constant cerulean skies. With a childhood blessed by creativity in both nature and nurture it seems that he was destined to be nothing less, but the artist he is today.
His humble dabbles in the art was first exhibited in the spare pages of his note books and drawing books. His first recognized efforts being his teachers encouragement to join an art competition while at elementary school. His first success was him winning a prize for his entry at this competition. This was indeed the fuel that Ron needed to spur on his further forays into art.
Ron upon enrollment into The Choiseul Secondary School made an even more serious commitment to art. He engaged in competitions with his sister who was had studied Art before him and vowed to best her at whatever medium was chosen. Upon graduation Ron dedicated all his energies to his art under the watchful and critical eye of his ever supportive family. There they watched him take flight as he shifted across mediums; painting landscapes, portraits, still lives and figuratives with ever increasing levels of accuracy.
His work first graced the walls of the family home and then made it to galleries including those of the hotels and churches in the south . Ron has taken part in many exhibitions including the 2013, 2014 and 2015 National Visual Arts Exhibition, the Choiseul and Laborie Community Art Festivals. His work also represented his country St Lucia at the 2013 Carifesta regional art exhibition . With his participation in the National Art Exhibition competition in 2013, Ron won a people choice award. In the same year he received an award for his contribution in the creative arts for St Lucias 34th anniversary of independence along with the outstanding youth award in Visual Arts in 2013.
Ron continues to spare no effort into achieving his goal of being the best he can be. This self taught artist prides himself on portraying work that is relatable, yet inspiring. He hopes to bring pride and joy to others by expressing himself in his favourite language; painting.
