Robin Hoods Bay
On the North Yorkshire coast of the UK, between Whitby and Scarborough is the beautiful village of Robin Hood's Bay. The numerous cottages are very closely built around the winding road which ends in a slipway, after it follows a steep ravine down to the ocean. Records indicate that the village probably dates from somewhere in the 15th century. It was once a fishing village, but during the 18th century and early 19th century it was better know for the smuggling activities that were prevalent there. The layout of the village was ideal; between the cottages are many secret hiding places, bolt holes, secret passages and alleyways.
