Paul McGahey, an amateur artist, based in the Irish Midlands, came to discover his artistic talent for working with natural materials after carving a slate as a present for a friend. 'People liked the piece that I had made and the orders began to come in, I've spent 10 years developing my techniques and am delighted that I can work slate with as much detail as others can sketch.'
