Hello, my name is Natalia and I am drawing since I was a child.
All my images are my kids.
And as any mother, I want my kids to experience this world outside of the little box they were born in.
They are my dreams and my chimeras, my sand-castles and my guardian angels.
They are the beat of my heart.
I was born at Sakhalin Island in the North Pacific Ocean, close to Japan. The kingdom of bears, wolverines and salmon running from the ocean to spawn in summertime when everybody can go to the river and catch it just by hand. My hometown is surrounded by deep dark woods. So, if you want to go to the river it won't take you much time after leaving your apartment. I do know what fun it is to ride a snow racer - I sled a thousand times down steep narrow paths at risk of breaking my legs and back. I did mountain skiing and cross-country skiing, I went fishing and gathered mushrooms, berries and wild fern to eat.
Folklore is my passion. It gives me inspiration and zest for life. If I had my will I would mythicize the whole world. I would like the Earth to be Middle-earth. I have written a fantasy book about the adventures of a young fairy in a magic academy, which illustrated by myself. A lot of ideas for my art works were taken or inspired by myths and tales.
And of course, I have my imaginarium teachers. Bosch and Rackham, Beardsley and Kawasaki, Lovecraft and Jean Ray, Hauff and Hoffmann arouse my inner angels and demons and whisper in my ear what to create today.
I believe that everything that has ever been painted, drawn or told, exists somewhere. We just need a key to enter.
