I remember when I was about 5 years old, I copied a sepia and white photograph in orange crayon: My dad and cousin were so impressed.   They excitedly said, 'maybe she'll grow up to be an artist!!!   Other grownups thought that would be terrible, as they thought artists were always poor.   I majored in Fine Art in college; worked as a graphic artist for a few years (before it was all on computers), and then drifted away from doing anything with art.   I've been much happier since I've been able to spend some time drawing and painting again.
