I come from beautiful Connemara and have painted from an early age. Now as a granny I enjoy getting to occasional workshops to concentrate on some painting. I like watercolour, oil and acrylic. To the north of Carna where I live are the majestic Twelve Bens and Cashel hill, Within a mile there are lovely secluded beaches. There are uninhabited islands a short distance from the coast, including Feenish to which you can walk at low Spring tide, Mason and MacDara's. We celebrate MacDara's festival in mid July.This is usually a three day event the highlight of which is an outdoor Mass at the ancient oratory on the island. MacDara is the local patron saint and fishermen look to him to intercede on their behalf. Boating competitions take place throughout the festival, including curach racing and the fantastic Galway Hooker sailboats finals
