I have always had a thing for color, in my youth it was crayons, chalk and finger paints. My teachers in school would never let me sit by the windows in class, which had views of pastures with cows, birds and flowers, so I'm guessing it was because I was to busy looking at the world of color out those windows, instead of listening.
At a young age I was given cameras for gifts, so I clicked lots of photos, which I still have today, many are mostly of family, friends and animals. I bought my first camera in my early 20's, a Konica view finder 35mm, loved that camera, then I graduated to a Yashica with all the different lenses. That camera didn't last long in the jungle of Venezuela, the mold claimed it after 2 years, it did take good photos while it lasted.
For the last 36 years I have been living on the island of Maui Hawaii, the beauty is endless and I have been through many cameras, most of them simple, as I am hard on them with sand and sea.
Besides being a photographer, I am a landscape designer, I believe staring out that window was good for me. I take my camera everywhere, for work, play and travel, that way I can capture the one shot that would only last a few moments at that spot. As a photographer I want to be able to share with the world what I see through the lens of my camera, this is a great joy for me. Mahalo for taking some time to cruise through my galleries and I hope there is something in my work that brings a smile, memory or a Deja Vu for you.
