Marita�s interest in art began after leaving her career in International Banking to raise her family. (in the 1980�s) After receiving a set of oil paints as a birthday gift from her husband and experimenting with them she instantly knew that she wanted to have this creative outlet in her life. She began taking adult education classes in painting and drawing where she met artist Ellen Hall who encouraged her talents. She has been painting and studying with Ellen Hall and the Ivyland Art Group since 1995; in addition she enrolled at Montgomery County Community College majoring in Fine Arts.
Marita enjoys having note cards made from her artwork. In 1999, while she was volunteering at Fox Chase Cancer Center, her artwork was chosen by the Nursing Research Dept. for a card designed to lift patient�s spirits during treatment.
Marita�s colorful paintings are as varied as her life experiences. She enjoys using a variety of mediums such as oil painting, pastels, printmaking and digital photography. Her inspiration comes from many directions: nature, animals, gardens and people.
In 2010 Marita taught beginner artists �Introduction to Drawing and Painting at the Manayunk Roxborough Art Center, Phila., Pa.
In 2012 Marita taught Introduction to Pastels workshop at the Manayunk Roxborough Art Center, and introduction to the art of Linocuts to local artists.
Marita earned her Associates In Fine Art Degree from Montgomery County Community College in 2012 at the age of 56; Phi Theta Kapa, Suma Cum Laude. She continues to study the art of Printmaking with artist Sandra Sicciatani at the college.
