Mariano Petit de Murat was born in Mexico City and, although a uniquely creative individual, he has also remained true to his heritage. Mariano is not only a professional artist who works with both digital art and murals (using oils, acrylics etc.), but he is also an independent musician. He has become well known for his passion for art, positivism, and the belief in free expression as well as his honest, but strong and romantic, outlook on life.

While still living in Mexico City, he had worked in advertising as a creative director for Televisa, Garcia Patto, and Arellano Publicidad, but he decided to take a risky step and became a solo artist full time in 1985. This turned out well since his work has been exhibited in various galleries and artistic events such as the Hall Des Artistes, Center of the Image, the Museum of the Chopo, Itatti Gallery, Misrachi Gallery, Gallery the Panaderia and the National Center of the Arts, to name just a few. In the year 2000, he moved to the island of Cozumel where he began to experiment as a digital artist, exhibiting his work online in the Museum of Computer Arts, Art Majeur, Renderosity, Runtime DNA and many other sites where digital art is promoted. He has become an experienced digital artist, and is considered both refined and creative among his fellow digital artistic peers. Visitors can appreciate the best of his work at his personal site: http://www.marianopetitart.com/.

As mentioned, Mariano is also a muralist, and he, along with his team, have painted over 200 murals in Cozumel and Playa del Carmen. You can see some of his work here: http://www.marianopetitart.com/md/

Comments:
Elizabeth Genovesi (Artrom Gallery): “Just as with the traditional method of painting, Mariano's method and media, and 'info graphics,' allows for the experimentation of collaging disparate information, or images and modifying, manipulating them to a desired end. Brush and paint is a discipline available to many, only those with the imagination, the trained eye, the sense of composition, color, and attention to detail succeed in creating remarkable work. The desired end in this case is a glimpse at other worlds through the eye of an artist with all these qualities. A voyager who is willing to take us where we have not been before, to captivating, mesmerizing places where the most outrageous things happen, that parallel in undefined ways what happens in our more familiar existence.”

Gabriel Santamarina: “Visionary artist, creator of fabulous realities, transporting us from the Mexican Caribbean (his place of residence) to the borders of other worlds, surrealist, parallel, archaic or futuristic. The used technique is the 'info graphics' or digital art, that offers the artist infinite possibilities for the creation of other realities. His work emerges from the exploration of the being, taking the submersion in the marine depths from the unconscious as a symbol for it. Innocence like weapon and eroticism as method, Mariano descends to the depths of his being, finding his reflection in the divine simplicity of the mineral kingdom, before overcoming his trip to the infinite and wonderful festival called universe.'

Ingrid Dohle Kamerbeek: 'Mariano is one of the most accomplished digital fine artists of our times also creating highly creative high quality murals, Trompe l'oeil, faux finishes, wooden art pieces etc. As the co-founder and organizator of the 'Webism Group of Worldwide Artists' I'm extremely proud to have him with us. His unique art style catches the eye and soul at first sight. He is open-minded with a warm, friendly and charming attitude.'

Horkay Istvan: 'Mariano´s art epitomizes the double meaning of the word: a fragment, an incised part of something already in existence ... and just because of this incision ... is an injury to the finished surface, to the tangle of writing or a finished picture. It is the same and not the same at the same time.'

Dan McCormack: 'Mariano Petit de Murat is a curator of Digital Art who has a real sense of what is new and exciting.'
