I think art for me came from very deep into myself no one in my family was and artist , I was born in Cuba in 1969 and since I was a child I had a clear passion for art; especially painting. I remember collecting my own paint from my father’s leftover car paint and cutting pieces of plywood to make my own art in a country where art supplies were almost impossible to find. At the age of 24 in 1993 I left my country and came to the United States where I had to start working as a truck driver with my father to make the living, three years later I had an trucking company that span into a produce business, still I kept studying fine art in my free time just for my love for it ,them came the 2007 recession, business got real bad and I realize after fourteen years of hard work that I wasn’t going to get any happier doing what I was doing and thats when I decided to become a full time artist a decision I'm so glad I took because make me realize that only Doing what you love will make you find greatness in your work.
In my stylistic development as and artist I was very influent by the realism of the all master which I consider the base of any good art some of the ones I more admired are Rembrand, Velasquez, Caravaggio them the more lose way of painting of John Singer Sargent and the impressionism style of Monet an Pierre-Auguste Renoir, those are the artist and styles that I consider the biggest influence in my painting thats why some of my paintings are more realistic others more impressionistic and some and in between all depend of the mood I'm trying create in the painting.
In my studio paintings I first get inspired by an idea I consider great enough for the long process of making the artwork. The process begins with a composition sketch and a color study that best reflects the story I’m trying to tell. During this process, I refer myself to personal experiences and photos to help me depict the subject in its most natural way. Some of my paintings are considered photo realistic but up close you can see the unique brush-strokes that set them apart. My passion for painting has never lessened, nothing gives me more satisfaction than seeing how a white canvas comes to life arousing emotions
