Biography details 2000 to 2001 Studies at Camberwell College of Arts, London, MA Fine Art Printmaking. 2003 to 2005 Studies at Central St Martins College of Art and Design, London, MA Fine Art Painting. Currently living and working on the Costa Blanca, Spain. Hood is a figurative painter influence and inspired by the Fauvist artist in art history. Coming from the French word fauve, meaning 'wild animals,' Fauvism rejected traditional painting ideals and emphasized modern concepts. Inspired by the late impressionist works of Paul Gauguin and Vincent Van Gogh who pushed the boundaries with their bold colour choices, Hood takes this idea a step further to include simplified design. Whilst studying for a painting masters degree at Central Saint Martins, London in 2005, Hood set about writing a 10,000 word dissertation titled ' Primitivism in Art'. It was here that Hood learnt that the Fauvists work was derived from primitive and tribal art; also about Paul Gauguins colour choice and style. Hood gives life to the paintings with the use of intense colours. The primary focus of Hood's paintings is the application of non-naturalistic and vibrant colour.
