..Luanne Brooten is an artist who graduated from the University of Minnesota with an Interior Design Major and a Fine Arts minor. She has been creating art and working in the design field for 47 years. She has lived in SW New Mexico for 16 years and for 10 years she owned a gallery called Silver Spirit Gallery in Silver City NM. In 2015 she sold the gallery and retired to spend more time painting. The paintings are chronicling SW New Mexico and ancient Indian designs that she reinterprets.
Luanne photographs, does pen and ink drawings, watercolor paintings, and acrylic paintings. Then, she also does a special technique where she paints a watercolor base with a pen and ink overlay. Her original paintings are done on stretched canvas or watercolor paper or canvas mounted on board. They are sprayed with a fixative and then coated with several layers of acrylic medium/varnish. They do not need glass for protection.
Luanne will be rotating images to stay within the 25 until there are enough sales to buy a premium membership with unlimited images. So if an image goes away, it can still be ordered, just leave a message. Luanne has over 100 paintings and hundreds of SW New Mexico photographs.
In 2021 Luanne began giving art classes in pour painting, There is a sizable collection of both watercolor and acrylic pour paintings that will be displayed over the next couple of months. Luanne is still painting endangered animals in various mediums.
