I am a Fine Artist, Interior Designer painting in oils to capture the beauty in life. With my background in Interior Design and studies in art, my aim is to create a sense of balance and harmony with a key focal point in the composition to achieve a pleasant and eye-catching piece of artwork for the viewer. It is equally important to me that there is a concept that adds depth of meaning to the work, which is often shared in writing about it when the painting is complete.
My style is Alla Prima, painting for 2 to 3 days while the paint remains wet, and I paint directly to the canvas or panel without under drawing to keep my brush strokes and palette knife work free. My works are painted with colors that are true to the scene and nature; and with inspiration from many classical and some 21st century Impressionists as well, the oil paint is applied in a loose fashion that is impressionistic yet maintains a sense of realism. Often there is a combination of smooth, blended out paint, with thicker 'impasto' paint laid in at key areas of the painting. This helps draw the eye to focus areas and gives a tactile interest to the work.
