Liz Sparling works with acrylic paintings, epoxy and mixed media artworks. By applying abstraction, Sparling uses a visual vocabulary that appeals to the senses. Her work incorporates many layers – a colorful experience that emerges bit by bit to compliment any color palette and interior design atmosphere where her paintings are displayed.
Her paintings sometimes radiate a cold and latent violence, and a disconcerting beauty emerges beneath the surface of real gold and silver leaf and epoxy. The inherent visual seductiveness complicates the reception of their manifold layers of meaning. She creates intense personal moments masterfully created by means of rules and omissions, utilizing techniques that incorporate acrylic washes, gradients, and blends, luring the viewer round and round in circles.
Her works bear strong references to status, femininity and nature. The dream of life is a constantly evolving focal point. By emphasising aesthetics, she seduces the viewer into a world of ongoing equilibrium and the interval that articulates the stream of daily events. Moments are depicted that only exist to punctuate the human drama in order to clarify our existence and to find poetic meaning in everyday life.
Her work does not reference recognizable form. The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted. Liz Sparling currently resides and works in Osage Beach and Saint Louis, Missouri.
