I never dreamed of being a photographer. My Dad gave me a little instamatic camera when I was young. I mostly just 'messed' around with it. My folks probably spent a fortune developing my bad photos. In high school, I became a little more interested in photography by being on the yearbook staff. It was fun taking pictures, cropping them and doing the layout. I felt a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction each time our yearbook was printed.
Fast forward to the digital age. I began getting a lot of compliments on my photos and suggestions that I should sell them. The biggest compliment came from my Dad shortly before he passed away. He didn't care about the subject, or even the quality - although he was impressed by some of the photos. He cared about the fact that I found something I really enjoyed, and the fact that we shared an interest. In many ways, the photos I take are in honor of my Dad.
I have a wide interest in subject matter. Photos can be very detailed or simplistic. Individuals can choose what to look at in a photo. There is no right or wrong. Most of my photography is done on the weekends during drives through the country. Our world is fascinating and there is beauty all around.
I hope you enjoy my photos. If any of them make you feel better, smile or laugh, then I have succeeded in my job.
