After winning the illustrious first place award from the Nahant Elementary School Art Show, I put my paint brushes down when I was told 'You know, you can't make a living as an artist.' Fortunately, the impulse to create remained strong and was expressed professionally through the renovation of commercial and residential real estate, landscape design and photography.
About five years ago the desire to paint was finally greater than my doubts. I took my first and only art class. The first assignment was to 'put two colors on the canvas and engage them in conversation'. The experience was so freeing and exhilarating! I have never looked back. I find watching the change in the canvas through the interplay of color, pattern and movement to be the most exciting aspect of the creative process. Color is so ALIVE!
I have recently started a new series of mixed media pieces using Japanese Origami papers. My goal is to reflect the grace and elegance of the human body in motion.
