trained in art 40 years ago, apprenticed with a major American sculptor and after 25 years in sales totally unrelated to art, i now make grouper & friends works from ordinary brush-tip watercolor markers. i also use Prismacolor colored pencils. while both have challenges to work with, i enjoy the opportunity to blend as many colors as i can onto these fleshy, massive, undulating forms, inspired by many trips to the Bahamas and the Caribbean and forming a strong association between the grouper and island life. i have no color training, can't even pick out my own clothes. the work i pursued back in the day was sculpture, outdoor welded steel....more
