I am so happy to be right here at Fine Art America snuggled in among all you great Artists and Fantastic Photographers. I spend hours looking and appreciating your wonderful work. What a Blessing for all of us to share our God Given Gifts with one another and all the visitors and buyers that browse our pages.
I am a native New Mexican born in Tucumcari, New Mexico and now I live in Truth or Consequences. I am a Blend of Native American, with several European Bloodlines added in, to mix with the Cherokee. I have been painting since I was six when I won a prize on the painting my teacher had put in the State Fair. My parents immediately found an art teacher who taught me drawing and painting by having me copy the great masters. I was painting (copying) Rockwell's Post covers, Blue Boy by Gainsborough, and Pinkie by Lawrence, by the time I was nine. Her training gave me the ability to look at a photo and copy what I see onto canvas. My high school art teachers were encouraging, but my college art instructors did not care for my PhotoRealism and tried to loosen me up. But I have stuck with my chosen technique of layering with glazes for my style of PhotoRealism combined sometimes with a bit of Impressionism. Sometimes I will play with a bit of Abstract and other techniques. My work is eclectic for sure. I use oil paints for most of my paintings, and reference photos for all People and Pet Portraits. I have done Calligraphy for the Dept. Of Labor for years. I am very Blessed and tremendously thankful for the time, energy, materials, and a wonderful studio to paint in. I love doing tile painting, and I have done oil paintings, custom hand painted clothing, and furniture, that have been sold all over the world.
I have learned that as you unclench your hands on your possessions and talents, and increasingly use them to glorify God, you will discover the pressures will fade and true joy will remain.
