Here are posted, a couple-dozen of my paintings and photo images, which are not only a subjective translation of what I see, but an outward emotional expression of how I choose to portray the world. Many of my outdoor subjects were painted on-site, 'plein-aire' using the highest grade watercolors along with the finest European-fabricated papers--all paintings are hand-crafted, which results in an ultimate color-fastness with extreme longevity.
I have been creating fine art, as well as product and environmental designs, since the late 70's, but never enjoyed painting images, until I began to have success using transparent watercolor painting. I love to draw, and enjoy the planning (which usually takes much longer than the painting), the drawing and tonal study stages, as well as the final execution, especially when I've managed to capture the qualities of the subject at hand. Watercolor is my chosen media and always brings surprises and challenges to my final results...Therein lies the MAGIC of watercolor painting for all to enjoy.
Working as an Environmental Designer for a couple of decades, I got away from the easel and used the computer to produce graphics and technical architectural studies for many years. It was very technical work and was required for commerce, but with little or no opportunity for personal expression. I feel very fortunate to have made a living with my creative endeavors and now thoroughly enjoy painting watercolors about a myriad of subjects. Living with a view of the Pacific Ocean in Redondo Beach is a joy to behold and I'm sure that it informs much of my work. Thank you for your interest in my images.
