My love for painting started when I was a child. I led a very sophisticated jet setting cosmopolitan lifestyle from childhood and I grew up living and travelling around Europe and many more countries. As an adult it didn’t appeal to me to live in one place, so I moved around a lot living at many different addresses in Berkshire and Surrey.
My Inspiration To paint Landscapes
My travels throughout my childhood opened my eyes to the beautiful world around me, and I observed from age 14 as a passenger in the family car once ,as we drove from Turin, into and through Provence, and then to our final destination, Almadraba in Spain. how each country is identified by its landscape. because they drastically changed from country to country.
Vast open spaces make me feel free, and I love to run through them. These wonderful life experiences have inspired me to capture the outdoors on canvas and bring it indoors. Painting beautiful and tranquil landscapes enables me to escape reality in that moment and go to a place of peacefulness, which gives me feeling of wellbeing.
The Process
The process starts with me driving through the Berkshire countryside. I start by taking a series of photographs to use as reference in the studio. I map out the structure of the painting using simple pencil strokes on canvas. After the painting has been blocked in, I apply different pastel shades of colour in oil and transform the painting into a tranquil scene.
People say they can imagine relaxing under one of my paintings with a good book and nice cup of coffee.
