Jessica McCain is an America artist, living in Nice France.

Surface magic is done with the brush to manipulate color, edges, texture, line and shapes. These visual elements create a dialogue between themselves. It is basically trickery with paint used to tell a story or convey a mood.
Inspired by Impressionism, her paintings have been called Impressionistic, she often uses this technique in her landscapes.
Her artistic interest began at an early age and continued through high school, art school and led to an exciting art profession. She attended the Art Students League in Colorado, Old Lyme Academy, Connecticut, University of Arizona. She studied with her father Buck McCain a successful western artist, learning to sculpt monumental bronze, and public art pieces.
Her career led her to produce several Public art sculptures, many portraits in oils, and landscapes. She works in oils predominately, but also paints with pastel, gouache, as well as sculpture.
After many years working in Arizona, producing western art, and California, painting plein air landscapes, she moved to France to pursue new and exciting work near the mediterranean sea.
Her love of painting gardens and water predominate, while figures come and go as her subject matter.
'For me, art is a personal communication between the artist and the viewer, my paintings are not about exact portrayal of detail, I take a lot of license. Intuition plays a big part in my paintings, I have learned to trust this, and recognize its significance, for often it is this intuition that is chasing that elusive mood that is essential for a successful painting. I have learned that technical skill must be mastered to transfer your aesthetic to canvas, but it is the emotion and intuition that go in to it that make the painting art.'
