Nanaimo, BC based artist, Janet McDonald, works in acrylic and oils. She loves the buttery feel and blend-ability of oils to whip up a Latin or Hawaiian Dancer, and the brilliance of the acrylic colours and their quick-dry nature for wildlife. Whatever the subject matter, strong colour and light are consistent components of her unique style.
Janet re-discovered her artistic talents in mid-life (now that’s a good crisis!). She is primarily self taught and has taken numerous workshops from locally renowned artists to round out her skills. She enjoys the challenge of continually broadening the boundaries of her work.
Janet regularly participates in Art Shows on Vancouver Island including the 'Nanaimo Art Walk' in winter and in summer in 'Originals Only' in Comox, BC and Ladysmith’s “Arts on the Avenue”. Many of her paintings currently hang at the Hartmann & Co. gallery in Nanaimo, BC.
