With experience in both two- and three-dimensional materials, Janet Flom�s work appears in public and private collections throughout the country.� She has completed over four hundred commissioned portraits in oil, watercolor and terra cotta; faces and figures remain her favorite subjects.� A native of Detroit, Michigan, Flom studied art as a child at Cranbrook Art Institute and the Bloomfield Art Association, but set artistic ambitions aside for a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan in Russian & East European Studies and then a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law. She practiced as a trial attorney until returning to a childhood interest in art.�Recently Flom returned to the federal courtroom as a sketch artist.
Flom was co-owner of StudioWorks, LLC, a Fargo commercial art firm specializing in site-specific liturgical and public art such as mosaics, sculpture, murals and stained glass. She has served on the Lake Region Arts Council, was founding president of the Red River Watercolor Society, and is a past recipient of a McKnight-LRAC grant for her art.�She maintains studios in Stillwater, Minnesota where she teaches privately.
