Holly Cooley is an artist with a deep appreciation of the beauty God created in nature. An avid student of drawing and color theory, Holly has utilized a variety of mediums to capture diverse subject matter. But when she started experimenting with watercolors, she found her passion.

'Watercolors are unique in that I can be as precise or as spontaneous as I choose to be within a painting. I enjoy being open to the emerging possibilities created in the fusion of paper, water and paint. This lends a freshness and anticipation to each painting session.'

'Additonally, watercolors transport and clean up easily. This means I can load my supplies into a backpack, suitcase, or pannier and enjoy painting and spending time in the outdoors. The mountains and the seaside never cease to inspire me.'

Even though she has a passion for nature and for watercolors, Holly has accomplished a wide variety of artistic projects. Among them is a major pen and ink undertaking of over 370 detailed renderings of military insignias published in the book, 'Forces of the British Empire - 1914', by Edward Nevin. She continues to work with a variety of mediums and surfaces and numerous paintings and other pieces are privately owned both here and abroad.

She also enjoys teaching art classses. 'I just love it when my students have that 'aha' moment...when something suddenly starts to makes sense. I love light and color so much and hope that I can pass that along to others.'

Original paintings and commissioned work are available, as well as prints.

Holly lives with her husband in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
