Now, in regard to this Pixels/Fine Art America website that you are currently visiting. Welcome to the images and galleries of art by me, Helena Tiainen. As you will be able to tell from my galleries, I paint and draw and work with computer graphics and software to further expand and multiply the potential in my art. I create with acrylics, mixed media, ink and pencil and at times watercolor/gouache. I often digitally alter my handmade art to elaborate on my visions. My works have strong emphasis on color in form, pattern and rhythm/flow. I work in 2-D and sometimes in 3-D. My current focus is on exploring the concepts of oneness and allness and interconnectedness and perceptions. In my art one form literally flows into another and in my works I often combine everyday objects with aspects of nature that I consider to be mysterious, ethereal, peculiar and beautiful. My work is abstract, but also figurative, organic, geometric, surreal and at times decorative. Overlapping multidimensional planes that can be viewed from many different perspectives are an essential part of my art.
I have a BFA degree in painting/drawing with minor in printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute and I live and work in Berkeley, California, USA. My art resume is available to you by request.
