Hello, my name is Tracey Jowers. I am currently a student studying Visual Communications with emphasis on Photography and Graphic Design. After being in business for 20 years, I am now ready to explore other areas of my talents and abilities. Through photography I strive to focus on the beauty of life and transmit that beauty through my works of art.
The famous writer Leo Tolstoy says the following about Art: “To evoke in oneself a feeling one has once experienced and having evoked it in oneself then by means of movements, lines, colors, sounds, or forms expressed in words, so to transmit that others experience the same feeling – this is the activity of art.' I would argue that it is impossible to evoke the 'same' experience of feeling in more than one person; but I do agree with Tolstoy’s assertion that art is about emotion, and attraction to art is more about emotional attachments that we give an object that fits our geometrical version of the world. If it is true that no two people see a thing the same as the other, that would have to include art. I have always had a strong conviction that art is individualistic, and each individual is attracted to certain types of shapes, colors, hues, patterns, etc., When interpreting those various things and what it means to each one of us, I would suggest that this is possibly one definition of art. With aesthetics being philosophical in nature, it is easy to conclude that there is no definitive, agreed upon concept of art, and that is what makes the study of art so wonderful. I get to decide what is beautiful to me, and share my vision of the world with others, though my lens, though my eyes, through my photographs and art.
I am a photographer and a budding artist because I say I am; because it is the path I intend to follow while I still have time on Earth. It is my hope to discover the depth of my abilities through all mediums of art and as such explore the depths of my soul. Our time here is fleeting, and I mean to enjoy the ride to the fullest! I believe I can be whatever I choose to be; Whatever I conceive, and believe, I will achieve. I support every other person in his or her endeavor, whatever it is that makes their heart sing, or put a smile on their face. It is my purpose to shine my light into the world in hopes of fanning the flame of love!
