Georgia Sheron holds a Master Photographic-Craftsman certificate from the Professional Photographers of America, an international organization with members in 13 countries. She is a former member of Professional Photographers of New England and Connecticut Professional Photographers Association.
Ms. Sheron is a five time recipient of the Kodak Award of Excellence and a six time recipient of the Fuji Masterpiece Award. She was twice awarded Master Photographer of the Year by the Connecticut Professional Photographers Association. Magazine articles pertaining to her work have appeared in Professional Photography magazine and Rangefinder RF magazine. Her image 'Tulips for Emily' was a cover shot in Professional Photographers magazine.
As a photographer and writer, Ms. Sheron's work has appeared in the Sunday New York Times,Yankee Magazine Connecticut Magazine, Vermont Magazine, Farm and Ranch Living and Country Gentleman magazine. Her images are included in coffee table books published by McMillan Press 'Bridal Style' and 'Floral Style'. She has done book covers and writer's portraits for Random House.
In 2013, a black and white photography book by Ms. Sheron was published by Bauhan Press of New Hampshire. Distributed by University Press of New England, it is titled 'Uncle John A True Yankee Farmer'. The book is available from Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
Images by Ms. Sheron are in collections in Connecticut at the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale, the Mattatuck Museum, the Southbury Public Library Permanent Collection, and St. Mary's Hospital. Her images of Italy are on permanent display at Cornell's Restaurant in Schnectedy, N.Y. Her work is in the private collections of Ann Beattie, Christine Baranski, David Gates, Ceasar Pelli, and the Hume Collection.
Ms. Sheron has photographed in Italy, France, St. Croix, Maine, Monhegan Island and New England for the past several years. She taught art at the private school St. Margaret's McTernan (now Chase Collegiate School) in Waterbury from 1968 to 1977. Ms. Sheron did free-lance photography and writing for magazines and newspapers between 1978 and 1985. From 1986 to 2011 she operated a photographic studio doing portraits of children, family groups, mothers with infants, weddings, commercial and editorial work. Currently Ms. Sheron is concentrating specifically on fine art photography. Ms. Sheron is the mother of four and married to musician David Howard. They live in Waterbury, Connecticut
