A site tradition Michael was selected in 2019 by a fellow fine Art America members as a recipient a humbling recognition. Michael shared the award locally with his beloved City of New Orleans, Louisiana. Each member which the award is passed to keeps the award in their possession for a few weeks, signs a scroll hidden in the base then shipped to the following recipient. The magnificent Tony Award II award designed by fellow member Tony Murray!!!

Greetings and a southern welcome from 'The City that Care Forgot', New Orleans, Louisiana USA celebrated its 300th Tri-centennial!!! Michael was a recent recipient of The City of New Orleans Mayor's Community Excellence Award at The National World War II Museum on November 19,2016 for his involvement with The New Orleans initiative Welcome Table and his Equity Circle City Monument Concept and Design of a urban conversation public place for the neighborhood Mid-City is the heart of New Orleans, for community and visitors voted upon, selected by his fellow members of the Carrollton Circle Group.

The Equity Circle monument is located at Jefferson Avenue and Cleveland Avenue, a gift to the citizens of New Orleans and community. Equity Circle a place for conversation and community was presented to the neighborhood and dedicated December 2016 by The Welcome Table New Orleans and Carrollton members. The construction of the Equity Circle installation was provided by a generous grant award funds by The Winter Institute totally $50,000.00 to all participating City Initiative Welcome Table Groups Each group member voted which member's concept or design introduced to the city would be the recipient of the awards. The remainder of funds totally $5,000.00 was used for a three night public movies screening on Race and Reconciliation held on the Campus of Tulane University..

Michael the artist and photographer's work has been published in local newspaper, magazine, book, and TV news media coverage.

Michael also received editor recognition from The National Geographic Magazine an image now among 43,000 photographic images as a permanent archival photograph. The image selected by one of the editors was The Fire Watcher.
