Follow me on my YouTube channel and see many of the locations I took the last two years. I have recently added a drone to my channel and love the b roll shots from the air. This is my main hangout on social media now as it takes a lot of time to create vlogs.

If you want to know who you are, take 10,000 photographs. Then you will have begun the journey to personal expression.

My images are made to look into not at, only by looking into and image can you see it. I shoot a lot in the 'fly over states' I like to think of them as drive through states, have a look at what you are missing.

I got my first DSLR in 2012 an entry level Nikon D3200 and began shooting on a daily basis. I tried all kinds of photography and began to transition towards landscapes. Shooting on the prairie of Iowa can be a challenging task but one can find compositions. The one thing the plains has going for it is the skies are wide open and spectacular sunrises can be had.

63000 clicks later and I got a D7100 and started bracketing my shots during these sunrises and sunsets. I process a lot as HDR to bring out the full dynamic range of these skyscapes. Another 60000 shutter clicks and I recently got a D800 to advance to full frame and see what I can do with it.I have traveled thousands of miles of Iowa gravel roads seeking compositions I find interesting.

I enjoy what I do with my photography and find it relaxing and far removed from my stressful and demanding day job as a hydraulic cylinder designer.

Photography is my creative release I need and desire. It is something to look back at the past 9 years of my work and my progression as a photographer developing my own style. Photography is all about your own unique style not trying to mimic someone else or their works. I leave the iconic shots for the Instagramers and create my own work based on my vision of the part of the world I live in.
