My name is Douglas Deleath Beatenhead, and I was born on May 30th, in the year of 1952. The images you see are from decades of work. For the last twenty or thirty years of my life this is what I have created.
I became interested in watercolors since I was very young. Now I'm beginning to find an interest in Acrylics too. I try very hard to put action and moods in my paintings. I also love to work with a lot of colors, and I try to make them deep and rich. Every painting I do takes days to arrive at a level of my satisfaction.
It has become apparent to me that my paintings appear strange and different from many other watercolor works I've seen. I like to concentrate on new and different images that inspire intelligent and creative minds.
I like to explore new ideas, thoughts and creations and to give my viewers many different images and effects that may capture their imagination and curiosity, intelligence and attention. Unless needed, I rarely put human figures, animals or birds in my work--I want my viewers to feel all alone in my paintings.
To those who view my paintings and other art, I hope you remember my images when you leave your computer. I hope you find them interesting and fun to look at; maybe even give you a little smile and some thoughts and questions when you turn away.
