My name is Dave Sprouse, when I was seven years old I remember my mother handing me a plastic Kodak camera and film cartridge as we stood in a small rose garden at the front of our greenhouse.   We lived on a small three acre farm on the south end of Whidbey Island, located in the northwest corner of Washington State, 90 miles north of Seattle.   I recall the morning sun shining on her face as she said to me 'This is all the film we can afford for the summer, so make it last'.   I think the film lasted about an hour before I opened the camera to see the pictures and exposed the film to the...more
