I grew up as a 'country girl' in Seneca, Missouri. I enjoy quiet time and being outdoors. I spent 28 years in the community newspaper business and throughout that time my favorite part of the job was capturing special moments through the camera lens. After retiring from the news business, I now have more time to pursue my passion for photography.
I especially enjoy outdoors and nature photography. God's great creation offers a wealth of photo opportunities. I enjoy snapping action shots as animals go about their daily business of gathering food, observing their surroundings, playing and just being animals. I also enjoy the depth of details that can be captured through the camera. Simple things take on a new dimension through the camera lens with intricate details becoming artistically visible and fascinating. I like capturing nature shots at various angles that can portray a scene in a rather unique way which could be easily missed if given only a very quick glance.
I enjoy photography as a way to capture and document happenings just as they are. I do very little photo manipulations. I do utilize the availability of editing software to enhance photographs by cropping and making minor adjustments to coloring, contrast, etc.
In our fast paced world it is easy to overlook the beauty and wonder that surrounds us in our every day life. Capturing simple things in photographs is a way to remember, reflect, ponder and relax.
