My first camera was an old Polaroid, the kind that gave you a strangely coloured print 60 seconds after you'd taken the photo. There was no post processing involved! After that, I had my first small 35mm film camera. I used to develop the films in the cupboard under the stairs, and black out a bedroom to develop black and white prints with a clunky old enlarger. I inherited the darkroom equipment from my father, a very keen photographer. Sadly he who passed away when I was four years old, so he never had the chance to pass on to me any of his skills with a camera.

Those years working with a 35mm film camera were very good experience. Films, chemicals, and printing papers were not cheap, so I tried to think about each shot before clicking the shutter. Despite that, I still managed to acquire the skills to constantly chop peoples heads off, have horizons that were nowhere near level, and include my thumb in numerous pictures.

Then digital came along ...

I have owned a few digital cameras, and my current one is a Nikon D300 which I love. It's not the best that money can buy, (who can afford the best?), but as the great photographer Ansel Adams once said .... The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it .... ... I wonder what he meant?

I've been on various courses, met some fantastic people through photography and learned so much from them. I have tried to get to grips with many different styles of photography, but my real passion is for nature, wildlife, plants, and particularly landscapes.

I spend most weekends and spare time out with my camera and I'm very selective about the images I publish. I would like people who look at my work to get the feeling of being there, whether its a sunrise, a seascape, or a colourful meadow in summer. I am not sure if that is always achievable, but it's something I will keep working towards.

Thank you for visiting my site, I hope you enjoy looking through my work.
