Hello, I'm Cathy Grassello. I bought my first SLR (Canon AE-1) when I was in college and immediately enrolled in a photography course. We learned the history of photography, how to develop our own film and the rules of composition. What was not taught was 'how to see.' That is a skill that comes with practice, experience, and passion for your craft. Fast forward to today, I am still as passionate about photography as the day I picked up my first camera. Now, there's a full frame, mirrorless digital camera in my bag. While that gear is really great, I believe that your eyes (and all your senses really) are your best equipment. What I mean, is, I try to photograph what I see and feel, not simply what I am looking at. My goal is to reveal the heart and soul in every image I make, whether it's a landscape, portrait, seascape or wildlife. Photography has the power to connect us. I hope you find a photograph that stirs your soul, touches your heart, makes you smile or think or just linger. Then, I've done my job.
