Like most artists Carleigh has always been interested in painting and drawing.With the guidance of a great teacher she became the winner of the Art Award for her Graduating Class in high school. This is where Carleigh started painting with Oils.
She found inspiration in her surroundings throughout Manitoba and later studied Acrylics at 'The Forum' in Winnipeg. This medium intrigued her so much that she has used it almost exclusively until last year. Since joining the 'Local Colours' Art Group, Carleigh has taken up watercolours and returned to oils. She has been teaching acrylic painting workshops at the club. The Winnipeg Sketch Club has rekindled her love of drawing.
Carleighs’ art work is hanging in the Craft Cupboard at the Forks in Winnipeg. Also, she will be exhibiting at the Art Rocks & the Local Colours art shows this spring. Carleighs’ pieces include landscapes, wildlife, abstract and more.
The family cabin in the Whiteshell is where she finds an infinite variety of subject matter. Carleigh spends several months of the year painting there. “Some of my favourite art work is done on-site (plein aire) sitting by West Hawk Lake. I especially enjoy the wildlife who model for me, Free of Charge!”
